Our basic answer is Western weight will offer a stiffer hat with a brim that is more firm and will hold its shape. Dress weight is softer and more pliable. It’s good for fedoras and other types, but can be stiffened if needed.

The best option is to come in and let us measure your head. If that isn’t an option you can measure your head with measuring tape using centimetres preferably. Start above your eyebrows on the middle of your forehead, hold it down with your finger and wrap the m/tape around your head. Make sure that you measure 1 finger space above the ear and resting on the ball/bump at the lower back of your head. The total measurement will be at the middle of your forehead when you meet the tape back to the beginning. Visit “size guide” for more detail.
